Six scholarships for students of Wheeling Jesuit University
Tecnocap group has partnered with Wheeling Jesuit University to sponsor six scholarships for students entering the university’s engineering science program. The company is sponsoring six scholarships, worth a total of $138,000 and will award scholarships to two engineering science majors in the Classes of 2121, 2022 and 2023. Each student’s $23,000 scholarship will be disbursed over the student’s four years at WJU.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for students majoring in engineering science to receive a scholarship to help attend Wheeling Jesuit University,” said Robert Yahn, dean of WJU’s School of Business and Technology. “We are grateful to Tecnocap group for this investment in our students’ education.”
“We’re thrilled that Tecnocap is partnering with Wheeling Jesuit to make a WJU education even more affordable for our engineering science majors,” said Sean Doyle, director of Undergraduate Admissions. “We also know that workplace experience is particularly important for engineers, and we also appreciate the internship opportunities that Tecnocap will offer for our students.”
Students who receive the Tecnocap/Engineering Science Scholarship will receive priority placement for paid internships at the company’s Glen Dale facility. Yahn said the internships will provide Wheeling Jesuit students with invaluable real world experience.
Wheeling Jesuit’s four-year bachelor of science in engineering science emphasizes engineering theory with practice, team work and effective communication skills. Laboratory and design experiences are integrated throughout the curriculum, culminating in a capstone project. Beginning with their first engineering course, students will learn to work in teams to solve problems. Graduates will be qualified to attend graduate school in specialized engineering disciplines or work as engineers in any discipline.
