Kids to skates: the Czech initiative
Kids and sports are the best combo. Aware of this, Tecnocap has been sponsoring children’s skating for many years. The program is called Kids to skates. (www.detidobrusli.cz)
This program is intended for preschool children and primary school students with skating lessons under professional methodological and coaching guidance.
The program for this year 2021/2022 was taken over by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports and also the Deputy Governor of the South Bohemian Region Mgr. Pavel Klima
This year the program was filled in with the development of individual skills for figure skating and ice hockey. These parts were under patronage of a celebrity of each field.
The methodical coach and a mentor of Kids to skates project was Tomáš Verner, former professional figure skater and European Champion from 2008 and also a ten-time Czech champion and participant in three Olympic Games (2006,2010,2014).
Currently also Stardance 2021 finalist (Strictly come dancing)
Tomáš Verner was born in South Bohemia region and started skating in České Budějovice. Obviously has a great relationship with the region. As he himself says: “Diligence, demanding training, humility and love for this wonderful sport have opened the door for me to the world of professional figure skating and to winning several international medals.”
Founder of Kids to skates project is Zdeněk Ondřej, who was born in Jindřichův Hradec. He has been playing ice hockey since he was a child. He played the highest Czech hockey league in the clubs HC Motor ČB, HC Pardubice, HC Bílí Tygři Liberec, HC Piráti Chomutov. From 2000 to 2002, he played in the United States on the Long Beach Ice Dogs and Idaho Steelheads.
Peter Pucher was the mentor for developing ice hockey skills.
The Slovak world champion from 2002 has experience not only from the Czech hockey extra league (HC Znojemští Orli, HC Pardubice, HC Kometa Brno, but also from the international Austrian league EBEL
This year Tecnocap paid the cost of renting the ice field for Strmilov ( kindergarten and elementary school) and Střížovice and Zahrádky (both kindergarten).
The children skated every Tuesday from October 7 to December 7, 2021 at the winter stadium in Telč.
For many children, this is their first contact with ice and skating. So we are happy that Tecnocap can support such an unforgettable event, which puts together kids and sports.
